When and How to Use CT in Pediatric Trauma Patients

Purpose or Case Report: Pediatric trauma patients present unique challenges due to higher radiation sensitivity and distinct injury patterns compared to adults. Limited experience with pediatric trauma often leads to the overuse of computed tomography (CT), resulting in unnecessary radiation exposure, overdiagnosis, and increased healthcare costs. This poster, designed for use in the trauma room, summarizes key considerations for CT use in pediatric trauma based on a focused literature review. It provides trauma teams with concise, evidence-informed guidance to select and optimize imaging modalities, minimize radiation exposure, ensure patient safety, and support structured, informed clinical decision-making.
