Purpose or Case Report: Review the set up for a pediatric MRU exam. I will identify what needs to be done to aquire optimal images and functional information. I will also highlight challenges and pitt falls of the exam. Methods & Materials: Viewed past successful and unsucessful MRU exams. Results: Illustrate the findings of the past MRU studies. Indicate what steps need to be taken for a successful MRU with pediatric sedate and non-sedate patients. Demonstrate that an MR Urogram gives both anatomical and funtional information. Conclusions: An MR Urogram is a minimally invasive test which obtains both anatomical and funtional information of the kidneys. It can be performed on infants as well as teen agers. When performed correctly excretory MR Urography can produce accurate qualitative and quantitative information. Excretory MR Urography and static fluid imaging can be combined with conventional MR imaging for a comprehensive evaluation of the urinary tract. Succesful imaging and dynamic analysis requires familiarty with the many pitfalls and artifacts that can be ecountered with the technique.
