Pediatric multiple sclerosis (MS) is difficult to diagnose at presentation, and the clinical features often overlap those of acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM), neuromyelitis optica or clinically isolated syndrome. Established criteria for diagnosing MS are less reliable in pre-pubescent children.
