Showing 1 Abstract.

Whole body MRI (WBMRI) is becoming widely used in the assessment of multi-focal and systemic disease processes in children. This educational review will share technical aspects - protocols, tips and pitfalls - for performing WBMRI in children before presenting a variety of cases from our institution where WBMRI has been instrumental in the diagnostic pathway. Cases include chronic non-bacterial osteomyelitis, both common and less typical findings, systemic juvenile idiopathic arthritis, leukaemia, lymphoma, metabolic bone disease and atypical infection. With a focus on bone and joint manifestations, the normal skeletal appearances on MRI of the growing child will also be reviewed as familiarity with normal findings and common variants is key to the interpretation of these studies. We aim to increase the reader's confidence to introduce or refine WBMRI usage in their practice and improve familiarity with common diagnoses and pitfalls. Read More
