Renal tumors in infants - review of the clinical, imaging and pathologic characteristics with side by side correlation

Purpose or Case Report: The purpose of this educational exhibit is to review the patterns of clinical presentation of common and uncommon renal tumors of infancy and to illustrate their imaging and pathologic features.
Methods & Materials: This exhibit reviews the literature regarding the incidence of renal tumors in infants below the age of 1 year. The clinical presentation, multimodality imaging findings and pathologic findings of common and uncommon renal tumors occurring in infancy are illustrated using cases collected from the radiology and pathology archives of our institution. Clinical syndromes associated with renal tumors in infants are discussed. The exhibit addresses the limitations of imaging studies in distinguishing tumor types, highlighting those types with unique features. The exhibit also reviews issues to be considered when planning biopsy or resection of renal tumors.
