The purpose of this exhibit is to make radiologists and clinicians aware of the different disease entities, which involve avascular necrosis. Additionally, we will discuss the different locations in which avascular necrosis can occur and the different pathogenic mechanisms which contribute. Avascular necrosis has a wide variety of etiologies and can affect nearly every bone in the human body. Many sites of involvement are given eponyms associated with the corresponding area. These sites are to be discussed individually, as many have unique clinical and prognostic features. We aim to educate radiologists and clinicians regarding the imaging characteristics of avascular necrosis in the various diseases discussed. Read More

The purpose of this exhibit is to make radiologists and clinicians aware of the radiological manifestations of Tularemia. There should be strong consideration for Tularemia in the differential in any patient with the classic symptoms, diffuse cervical lymphadenopathy with evidence of necrosis, and enlarged adenoids. Ultrasound and CT may demonstrate suppurative lymphadenopathy suggestive of infection; while chest radiography may demonstrate bilateral or lobar infiltrates. The radiological findings, prognosis, and clinical manifestations are to be discussed. Read More

The purpose of the presentation is to educate the audience of the uses of ultrasound in evaluation of the neonatal spine. By viewing this presentation, the audience will learn the importance of ultrasound in evaluation of the spine. We will review the process of performing the ultrasound examination to acquire suitable images. Assessment of the normal spine structures under ultrasound and discussion of the indications for the use of ultrasound as a primary source of evaluation of the spine are to be reviewed. Performance of the examination in terms of patient positioning, labeling of the vertebral bodies, and evaluation of the important structures will be discussed. Indications for acquiring an ultrasound of the spine will also be reviewed. Lastly, we aim to review distinct disease entities associated with the neonatal spine, with attention to their ultrasound imaging characteristics. Read More
